Japchae

I never knew that glass noodles can be cook in such a way that it is being used as a main ingredients instead as a companion with other ingredients. Korean people sure know how to make their dishes full of their own styles. Hence I decided to give it a try after I saw my friend do her own verison too.




Serves 1

Ingredients:-
1 serving size of glass noodles - soaked
some lean meat - thinly sliced
1/2 yellow onion - thinly sliced
1/2 medium carrot - thinly shredded
2 shitake mushroom - sliced
1 stalk of spring onions - cut into sections
1 garlic - minced
1/2 tablespoon of sesame oil

Japchae Sauce:-
1 tablespoon of light soya sauce
1 tablespoon of sugar
1 teaspoon of minced garlic
1 tablespoon of roasted white sesame seed
1 tablespoon of sesame oil

Garnish:-
Some chopped spring onions
1 teaspoon of roasted white sesame seed

Method:-

  1. Mix all the seasoning for japchae sauce till sugar disolve and set aside.
  2. Marinate lean meat of 1 teapsoon of the japche and set aside.
  3. Boil glass noodles in boling water for 3 mins or till soften. Rinse with water, drained and set aside.
  4. Heat sesame oil in a pan and saute minced garlic, brown onion and spring onion till fragant. 
  5. Add in mushrooms, marinated lean meat and give it a quick toss.
  6. Add in shredded carrots, glass noodles and remaining japchae sauce and continue stir & cook in low heat. Stir frequently till japchae sauce is mixed well.
  7. Serve hot with some extra sesame oil and garnish with chopped spring onions.
