Steam egg tofu with minced meat

I super like this type of side dish. Is simple and nice and is very healthy too as the cooking method used was steaming! The sauce I can match it with rice too. I remember my elderest sis did made this before so do I see it in the san cai yi tang show on channel  8 recently. I finally find a simple and easy to do recipe as most of the recipe I found was rather too complicated or not easy to do..

Serves two

Ingredients
1 tube of egg tofu - cut into 1 cm slices(I get 10 slices)
About 10 tsp of minced meat
1/2 stalk of spring onions - sliced thinly about 1 inch
1/ tbsp of light soya sauce

Marinade ingredients
1/2 stalk of spring onions - finely chopped
1 tsp of light soya sauce
Few small carrot cudes
1/2 tsp of sesame oil
dash of pepper
1 tsp of corn flour
1 tsp of rice wine

Method

  1. Place the toufu on a steaming plate.
  2. Marinade minced meat with all the marinade ingredients and set for 10 mins.
  3. Mould 1 tsp of minced meat into a ball and place on top of toufu slices. Drizzle 1/2 tbsp of light soya sauce over the toufu slices.
Steam about 5 mins or till the meat is cooked. Use a spoon to drizzle over the toufu slices and garnish with chopped spring onions before serving.

Small tips:

  • for well binding of the minced meat you might wana to add in about 2 to 3 tsp of beaten egg while marinade.
  • How to tell whether the minced meat is cooked is by seeing lots of fiuld surrond egg toufu as these fiuld comes from the minced meat.

Hehe maybe next time round I can try it with some minced prawn.
